IDS merges the user database of a corporate directory service with the MiVoice Business database to avoid having to manually add, delete, or modify core user information any time a change is made in the corporate directory.
User and service data in MiVoice Business is synchronized between the corporate directory server and the MiVoice Business IDS using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). The data is then distributed from MiVoice Business IDS to the various member elements in the System Data Synchronization network or cluster.
Synchronization occurs in one direction only—from the directory server to MiVoice Business IDS. To move updates in the other direction, it is necessary to export an LDIF file from the MiVoice Business IDS and import it to the directory server.
The MiVoice Business IDS application relies on the Scheduler to perform synchronization events, and on User and Service Templates to supplement the data provided by the directory server.
